TUNGSTEN RAW MATERIALS

raw-materials

Buffalo Tungsten purchases various raw materials for conversion into tungsten intermediates at our joint venture partner Niagara Refining. Niagara Refining chemically treats tungsten ores and concentrates and tungsten scrap, breaking them down into solution. They refine them and recrystallize them into ammonium paratungstate (APT). From the APT they primarily produce two of the most common intermediate tungsten products - yellow tungsten oxide (YTO) and blue tungsten oxide (BTO).

It is Buffalo Tungsten's official policy not to use any raw materials from the Democratic Republic of Congo, or the surrounding region, that could be considered ‘conflict minerals’ as listed in title XV, section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

Common raw materials purchased by Buffalo Tungsten include

  • Tungsten Concentrates
  • Sodium Tungstate
  • Tungsten Hard Scrap
  • Tungsten Carbide Hard Scrap

Purchasing specifications will be added below shortly.
